Why do we need an Anglican Network Fellowship / Church in the Cowichan Valley?
 - Shawnigan Lake / Mill Bay / Cobble Hill /

In the New Testament followers of Jesus were engaged in preaching Good News and starting new Churches; joyous fellowships of Christian believers. We see ourselves as having that same vision.

It is not our intent to draw people from other churches. Our main focus is on bringing non- believers into a faith relationship with Jesus Christ. Church fellowships are born out of a desire for others to “know Christ and to make him known.” Churches grow as new believers are added to the fellowship. That's our focus. However, if you are a believer without a church home we certainly encourage you to check us out.

Note to those from Anglican backgrounds: The Anglican Network in Canada (ANiC) was formed in response to the conviction that the Anglican Church of Canada was in the process of departing from orthodox Anglican teaching and practice as defined by the most recent Lambeth Conference of Bishops and New Testament Apostolic teaching. That being said, we have no desire to be "against" the ACoC or any faith group for that matter. We want to be known for what we are FOR.  We see ourselves as being in fellowship with all individuals, churches and groups that take the scriptures seriously and honour Christ as Lord.

Interesting facts:

  • In North America there are three churches that close down for every one church that is planted.
  • 85% of churches in North American have plateaued or are in decline.
  • Studies show that planting new churches is the most effective way of reaching the unchurched and fulfilling the Great Commission (Matt 28)
  • On Vancouver Island only 5-10% of the population attends church.
